Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta Broadcast on Sky Sport
Highlights of the Summer's Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta were broadcast on Sky Sports over Christmas. The country's biggest regatta was the focus of a 30-minute documentary slot in the Watersports World Series. The programme highlighted the significant input of up to 250 volunteers and the fact the event has become one of the biggest participant sporting events in the country, with 3,500 sailors afloat on the Capital's waters.

OPENING DAY RACING ... 9TH JULY
A light but steady breeze pushed the 450-boat fleet out into Dublin Bay today, (THURSDAY) for the first races of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta, with fleets spread over seven courses between Howth and Killiney.
Occupying prime position for day one in the middle of the bay were the IRC1, IRC0 and J109 fleets, sailing a single race on their windward-leeward course just south of the harbour entrance.

A vast armada of 450 boats from France, Spain, the British Isles and sailing clubs all over Ireland will converge on Dun Laoghaire today, 9th July, for the start of Ireland’s largest regatta, the four-day 2009 Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta (VDLR).
