The Sailing Instructions are now available for the Volvo Dún Laoghaire Regatta 2025, and can be viewed online or downloaded from the official notice board on RacingRulesOfSailing.org.

As part of our sustainability drive, the SI’s are not being printed for general distribution for the 2025 regatta and will not be in the skippers’ packs. Instead, they are produced electronically, and competitors are being advised to print only those sections of the 32-page pdf document required, or to use their mobile device to consult the SIs.

The next iteration of Ireland’s largest regatta will take place from Thursday, July 10th to Sunday, July 13th 2025 and entries are now OPEN via Manage2Sail.com.

The Sailing Instructions (SI’s) of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2023 are changed as follows: –

Change No.1 – Addendum Collen Racing Area.

Class Flags on Saturday 8th July are: RS21 – ICF “K”, J80 – ICF “E” and Flying Fifteen “Naval Numeral 6”.

Change No.2 – Addendum Coastal Racing Area.

Paragraph 1.2 is changed to read: – The starting line will be between Omega Mark (Y) and a red and white staff or the main mast on the race committee starting vessel. (Words ‘due north of Omega Mark’ deleted).

Change No.3 – Addendum Southbull Racing Area

Windward /Leeward Marks: Add “Mark O (the offset/wing mark) will be a blue plastic buoy.”

Change No.4 – Addendum Southbull Racing Area

SB3 THE FINISH paragraph 3.1 is changed to read:- The finish line will be between a staff/mast on the signal vessel at the port end and the course side of an inflatable mark or dan buoy at the starboard end.

Change No.5 – Change of Racing Area for Cape31 Class on Saturday 8th June 2023

The following SI changes apply :-
6.5 Scheduled Class Racing Areas:- Cape 31 on Saturday 8th July is changed from South (1) to South Bull (3).
Addendum South Racing Area: -Cape 31 on Saturday 8th July is removed from the table of classes.
Addendum South Bull Racing Area:- Cape 31 on Saturday 8th July is added to the table of classes with a warning signal of 11.50 and 3 races scheduled. This also changes SI 6.2 Schedule due to the 1st warning signal being 5 mins earlier.

Change No.6 – Offshore Class – Scoring/Prizes

SI Paragraph 22 Prizes
New sub paragraph 22.4 added:- For the purpose of prizes, the IRC Offshore Class will be scored as a single fleet and also for boats with an IRC TCC 1.020 or more (Sub division A) and a IRC TCC less than 1.020 (Sub-division B). No day prizes will be presented for these two sub-divisions.

Change No.3

NOR Sections 3.5.2 OFFSHORE (IRC) CLASS and 3.5.3 CRUISER NON-SPINNAKER (IRC & ECHO) CLASS are changed by the addition of the following sub sections (e): –

(e) IRC Rule 22.4 is amended to read “There are no limits on the number of crew and crew weight.”

A complimentary berth or parking space will be assigned to visiting boats for the duration of the Regatta from Monday 3rd July to Monday 10th July 2023. Visiting boats that require lift in/out will be accommodated either in their allocated club or on the Carlisle Pier, where a crane will be available.

If you wish to stay for a longer period then that specified or if you are bringing a mothership, you will need to make your arrangements separately with Dún Laoghaire Marina.

The Notice of Race (NOR) of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2023 is changed as follows:

Change No.1

3.5.2 Offshore (IRC) Class – (d) is changed to read:

(d) Boats may be supplied with tracker units supplied by the OA which shall be returned to the Race Office immediately after the last race. The race courses may use virtual marks.

Change No.2

Registration and Racing is changed to remove online registration and replace it with a required in person registration in the regatta race office (located on the Carlisle Pier) before racing.

Ireland’s largest regatta will take place from Thursday, July 6th to Sunday, July 9th 2023 and the biennial regatta is planned to coincide with ‘Coastival’, a new week-long festival celebrating Dun Laoghaire’s Maritime heritage, presented by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
